Our work in the public sector

We have extensive experience and a growing reputation in the public sector. Our engagements are usually part of a wider business transformation programme, and our approach delivers significant results, often in operationally complex or high risk areas.  As a result of the recent Roots Review in February 2009, the pressure on the public sector to deliver even greater savings against the CSR07 efficiency targets of £4.9bn has only increased.  The support we have provided to our public sector clients has helped overcome these tough challenges.

We specialise in delivering procurement transformation programmes, primarily in local government, but throughout the public sector. Often as part of a wider business transformation programme to deliver efficiencies across the organisation, we offer innovative  approaches to categories where either little activity has taken place or a strategy that we might propose has not yet been implemented.

We cover virtually all areas of spend, ranging from Adult Social Care through to Term Maintenance Engineering contracts. The combination of our public sector knowledge with respect to public body regulations, European procurement procedures etc and our private sector industry experience leads to exciting results for our clients.

Peterborough City Council is a unitary authority providing services for a local population of approximately 165,000 people. In 2006 the authority embarked on a wide ranging and ambitious transformation process to increase the quality of services provided to local residents. K Consulting’s work looked at areas of spend amounting to approximately 36.5million per year and identified a savings potential of around £2million. A year later they had delivered annualised savings of over £2.8 million.
