What we do
K Consulting offers its public sector clients a fresh approach to delivering transformation programmes with external support. We focus on securing tangible, cashable benefits whilst ensuring that the results we deliver are sustained for the longer term through appropriate knowledge transfer. Our procurement engagements are typically two-stage projects:
Procurement Diagnostic: our procurement diagnostic involves a detailed spend analysis of the organisation’s Accounts Payable ledger and an assessment of the procurement function, policies and procedures, corporate contracts, departmental procurement activity and the information systems that underpin the procure-to-pay process. The output of the diagnostic process is a detailed report that assesses current procurement performance, and defines a Strategic Procurement Plan. This includes an accurate and substantiated estimate of potential savings based on benchmarked data, the appropriate levers and approaches to be adopted, the expected business benefits, as well as the risks and constraints. Working with key stakeholders at this stage ensures that expectations are aligned with the strategic objectives of the organisation.
Implementation: working in collaboration with client staff, we are usually retained to deliver the high complexity, high value categories where efficiencies were identified in the Diagnostic phase. Rather than simply applying a standard methodology to specific categories, we will often adopt a ‘blank page’ approach, allowing us to benefit from our previous experience within the category in question whilst maintaining flexibility to respond to the individual requirements of the organisation.
By adopting this approach, we ensure that the maximum benefit (for example cashable savings) can be secured whilst matching the client’s future requirements to the market’s ability to satisfy those needs. This, combined with our inclusive approach ensures that all knowledge is retained by the client and the commercial benefit is sustained well beyond the initial project.
